The specs of the recently revealed Kia EV6 have been officially announced, with the automaker adding that the car will reach global markets later this year.Kia also unveiled the EV6 GT, a high-performance version of the standard models expected to offer 0-62 mph acceleration in 3.5 seconds.Though no pricing info was revealed for the EV6, it could cost around $40,000 at launch. After unveiling official images of the Kia EV6 not too long ago, the manufacturer has now revealed the specs for the lineup which also includes GT versions that were previously unknown. The EV6 by Kia will be based on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform as expected, while the specs are pretty much on par with the Hyundai IONIQ 5 that was unveiled not too long ago as the first EV based on the E-GMP platform. Similarly, the Kia EV6 will be available in 77.4 kWh and 58 kWh battery pack options with the ability to choose between single-motor rear-wheel-drive or dual-motor all-wheel-drive models. As per the automaker, the most efficient model of the EV6 will be equipped with a 77.4 kWh battery pack and a single rear-wheel-drive motor. This variant can reportedly run for over 510 kilometers (316.9 miles) on a single charge based on the WLTP testing cycle. However, the official EPA range for the Kia EV6 is expected to be around 250 miles. What makes the Kia EV6 stand apart from the Hyundai IONIQ 5 is the fact that the former is also available in a GT version with a significant power upgrade compared to other variants in the lineup. Here’s how Kia describes it, “Equipped with 430kW dual motors, the EV6 GT takes electric performance to another level. With a maximum 740Nm torque, the AWD GT version accelerates from 0-to-100 km/h in an eye-watering 3.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 260 km/h (preliminary development targets). With the addition of electronic-Limited Slip Differential software to the EV6 GT version only, drivers will enjoy confident control and dynamic ride and handling in all conditions.” Though the company hasn’t revealed pricing-related information, the Kia EV6 is expected to cost roughly $40,000 at the time of release.
