Tesla V3 Superchargers
Tesla’s official website offically announced the V3 superchargers about a year ago. This is tesla‘s latest charging solution. The charging efficiency of the V3 superchargers has been significantly improved, and the charging time has been reduced by 50% to achieve a visible increase in charging speed.
tesla said that the V3 superchargers adopts a new super-charging architecture solution and uses a new liquid-cooled cable design to reduce the weight of the cable and improve the charging efficiency of the cable.
In terms of charging efficiency, the new V3 superchargers can support a maximum charging rate of 250 kW. For example, Tesla’s latest model 3 long-range version can increase the cruising range of the car by about 120 kilometers (about 75 miles) in just 5 minutes, and the fastest can be about 1,600 kilometers (about 1,000 miles) per hour.
Unlike the V2 Superchargers, even if two tesla cars share a V3 supercharger stall (i.e. 2A and 2B), it can still maintain a full power output of 250 kW peak per car.
tesla said that the V3 Supercharger can save car owners an average of 50% of the charging time, and it is expected that the charging can be completed in 15 minutes. The V2 Supercharger used to charge tesla electric vehicles in about 40 to 50 minutes. After the V3 Supercharger is launched, the full charging time will be reduced to 30 minutes.
Tesla On-Route Battery Warmup
In addition, tesla also mentioned the “On-Route Battery Warmup” project. When the owner uses tesla to navigate to the charging station, the car will automatically heat the battery to the best charging temperature on the road, which can reduce the charging time for the owner by up to 25%.
With the V3 Supercharger, the charging stations can provide service to more than twice the current vehicle owners per hour.
Currently, Tesla has pushed updates to American Model 3 owners. After the update is completed, Model 3 can use the V3 Supercharger. Regarding the layout of the new Supercharger, tesla stated that the first V3 test Supercharger station was opened in the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States. And it will slowly expand to globally to all countries.
