- Ford has started sending out emails to European customers of the Mustang Mach-E informing them that the EV’s launch has been pushed to early 2021.

As per Ford emails sent to European customers that were later published on a forum, the company’s highly anticipated Mustang Mach-E crossover has been pushed to early 2021 in the region. This comes as the car was expected to hit Europe by the end of 2020. However, Ford has confirmed that the Mustang Mach-E will hit the U.S. markets by late 2020 as originally planned, indicating that Ford is prioritizing the U.S. market for its flagship EV.
This is in stark contrast with initial media reports that suggested the Mustang Mach-E will arrive in Europe before it reaches North America. A Ford spokesperson, Emma Bergg said “Europe was never getting vehicles before the US. That was an error in a communication and later corrected. It is a planned concurrent launch.”
Elaborating on the delay for European customers, it is said that this is primarily due to the additional travel time from the Mach-E production unit in Mexico. Ford recently delayed the arrival of the F-150 and the Bronco pickup. Subsequently, the Mach-E was also added to the list, although this new confirmation from Ford’s spokesperson has come as good news for prospective customers of the automobile.
Ford has refused to mention a more specific timeframe apart from late 2020. So this could technically even mean December, although we sincerely hope that’s not the case. The auto industry has been heavily impacted by lockdown and quarantine measures announced by states across the U.S.
Ford is believed to be reporting quarterly losses in excess of $5 billion this quarter. A Ford executive mentioned at a recent analyst meeting that the company will make up for the time lost due to the lockdown, and will get on course with production over the next few weeks. The Mustang Mach-E is certainly a big part of those plans.
