Cryptocurrencies are on the rise again, and new coins are emerging everywhere. An even more important detail is that even some massive, established companies are developing their own cryptocurrencies, indicating that the move towards mass adoption is progressing, slowly but surely.
However, according to recent information, a well-known name in and out of the crypto space, John McAfee, is planning to release his own coin. McAfee has had a long and colorful life up to this point, but it still doesn’t seem like he is ready to retire and live quietly. These days, the famous crypto enthusiast and antivirus software developer is actually running for the position of the US President, aiming at the 2020 elections.
But, it seems like the famous Bitcoin bull plans to enter the crypto space on yet another level, as well, judging by his recent Twitter post.

McAfee Freedom Coin
In his tweet, as seen above, McAfee shared a link to his own crypto website, known as McAfee Freedom Coin. The website announces that the coin should be expected to come out at some point during the fall of this year.
According to other information provided by the website, McAfee’s crypto will aim for complete isolation and independence from fiat currencies, as well as assets, and even exchanges. He aims to reach full economic freedom and eliminate everything that might be holding a cryptocurrency back.
He also believes that it is crucial that his coin remains disconnected from other cryptos as well, giving it zero cash-in value, but at the same time — universal acceptance. His coin will not be a stablecoin, as it will have no connection to anything of value, nor will it be connected to external items or entities.
In other words, this coin will have no value in relation to any other currency, crypto, or fiat. But, its natural market value will be there, and it will grow freely. It is certainly an interesting move, and it dominates the headlines at the moment. However, whether or not it will actually work as McAfee had envisioned it, still remains to be seen.
McAfee hits the headlines once again
Of course, this is far from the first time in recent months that McAfee has been a topic of the press. He announced plans to run for the US President in 2020, although many took it as a joke, considering that he is currently bound to living on a boat in international waters.
The reason for this is the fact that he is on the run from the IRS, after not filing his taxes for at least eight years. As mentioned, many believed that this announcement was a joke, until he started publishing his campaign plans. The plans include sending people dressed as him, including the mask of his own face, to represent him on events and in public. Meanwhile, he would use cameras, microphones, and speakers to communicate from the safety of his boat.
In crypto circles, McAfee also made headlines when he uncovered that he knows who hides behind the name of Satoshi Nakamoto — Bitcoin’s mysterious creator. McAfee originally intended to reveal Nakamoto’s identity, claiming that he is a US citizen. His decision to unmask Nakamoto came after Craig Wright’s numerous attempts to prove that he is the one who came up with BTC.
Of course, Wright has yet to deliver any real proof of this, and McAfee had simply had enough of the crypto drama. However, he seemingly changed his mind in the last moment, after his lawyer advised not to come out with Nakamoto’s identity, as the move might allegedly influence McAfee’s trial. For now, he is willing to wait, and Nakamoto’s real identity remains a closely guarded secret.
